its not really possible to determine the device being managed by JACK.
in fact, its not really even possible to determine if JACK is using
the ALSA backend, dummy, OSS, firewire or netjack. the "JACK Control
API" would nominally cover this kind of this thing, but i'm not sure
of its state w.r.t queries, and its not implemented in Jack1.
