Given today's disk technology this is not really
a big surprise. One way to increase the speed of
a head positioning servo is to make it open loop
for at least part of its bandwidth, relying on
controlled forces and inertia to control fast
movement rather than on position feedback. Any
such system would be quite sensitive to vibration
in the frequency range not covered by feedback.
