Interesting read, what I made of it on a first pass through. However, 
IMO Kino has the worst timeline editor I've found in Linux video 
editors. Not that it's unusable - Kino is a good program - but it's 
surely not the best design for arranging multiple clips.

I usually employ Kino for its DV capture page. Works very nicely with my 
cheap Samsung recorder and its Firewire interface.
