Actually,

I stand corrected. The thing still fails intermittently. The post-shutdown
script looks as follows:

"cpufreq-set -g ondemand"
(obviously without quotation marks)

This is on Ubuntu 9.04.

It appears removing killall jackd makes no difference, making this problem
either way intermittent in its nature but only if closing qjackctl through
the systray icon (on Gnome desktop).
