A bit brutal but it works. It could also be that your trying to startjackd with realtime priority and don't have a rt-kernel. But I gather
you know that.
any sane kernel can do realtime; it's not dependent on kernel. realtime is dependent on privileges.
what we refer to as an "rt kernel" is basically more (realtime) preemption and higher timer frequency.
