ok, your post brings up a question in my mind:  are you using NtEd as
a midi sequencer, or are you composing note-by-note, and using the
notation capabilities after-the-fact?

I'm not using NtEd as a midi sequencer.  The reason I mentioned JACK and latency is that a beginner wanting to try out Rosegarden (as I did) will encounter them.  It appears that this will also apply to MuseScore in the future (see Werner Schweer's posts in this thread).
