They are recorded in renoises sample editor, that let's you sync the 
recording to pattern start. Then triggered as regular samples in renoise.

Soundtracker was my first tracker, but it's been a while, never tried 
Schism tracker, so I'm not sure what they can do...

Do they have build-in effects (delay, reverb, compression, eq), groups 
in the mixer, recording from midi-input and automation?

You could just try the demo, the only thing it won't let you do, is 
render to disc IIRC.
