I had some problems with Ubuntu 9.04 also, and have run ArtistX 0.7 for 
months now and it's been completely stable and functional:

Seems like a small community, but I've been posting as much assistance 
to the forum as possible. It's an exceptionally complete distro - an 
approx 9.8GB install supporting audio, video, and graphics right out of 
"the box."
