[By the way: Problem solved :) - I finally could compile the kernel. Isent a mail before - but unfortunately not to the list :( Sorry!]
Hi Joern :)
Thanks! The next time I know better :)
I have to admit that - beyond having the wish to get rid of all theseugly glitches when using sound applications - I don't have the time toget deeper involved into the kernel...
My strategy is to get the configuration of the newest debian kernel, touse it as a template for the vanilla kernel and to hit [enter] for allnew configuration options in a big and naive confidence that the defaultvalues make sense :) Bad, I know, but I really don't have the time tostudy and read about all these options...
Some day I plan to finally work through all those kernel books I alreadybought, some day...
That's why I think it would be great for people like me to have theoption to just install a realtime kernel from the (in my case debian)repository at the place of misusing the time of people like you whocould make better use of it for development with the goal to finallymake linux work with audio out of the box...
Unfortunately it seems that people like you - doing linux and music -are an exception and that most linux guys don't see any sense in makinglinux a multi-media operating system. A big fault as I think, as mostpeople (at least in Japan) use their computer to play around with film, photo and music and not for hacking servers like me :)
Of course I could switch (from debian sid) to ubuntu studio...But I am still not there...
Good luck and thanks again,
Dietrich
