the issues (mainly of ico and me) were related to the cardbus bridges, 
however the routing/faders worked fine, only the sound was distorted.

you can try to compare the pci registers of the cardbus bridge and hdsp 
on windoze and linux ... if the values are different, you can try to set 
the specific registers on linux.
in any case, you may want to contact the maintainers of the pcmcia 
subsystem of the linux kernel.
