I've been running mutt with en_US.UTF-8 for ages.
What's wrong with it, or rather why would it work
here and not for you ?

Why, in this modern world, would you even think of using Mutt?

Nostalgia?

It'd seem a lot easier to use Thunderbird/Evolution if webmail isn't your thing...
