I think, the Zoom is a USB-audio device, so make sure you have snd-usb-audio loaded: check with "lsmod | grep snd-usb-audio". If it's not loaded, load it with "modprobe snd-usb-audio" and use whatever tool your distribution provides to load it automatically.
