its pretty easy to narrow out 98% of the pool off the bat

eg if you care about driving a decent display, you can narrow out anything w/o
dual-link DVI, HDMI, or Displayport. which means everything except the macbookpro or thinkpad with a dock..

both of those use Nvidia afaik. so if you want a digital external display w/ Intel drivers, you need to wait for Displayport in Montevina (Centrino-2). which is a couple months

the minipins 1394 plug not being able to power firewire devices is annoying, as the lack of pc card slots (and lack of expresscard audio gear)

so im waiting , to at least see what the port situation is like with the next batch. i cant find anything that seems reasonable in the current one (eg intel high res external gfx, and 6 pin firewire or pccard.. shit the indigo expresscard isnt even out yet, and no clue if its 34 or 54 mm..)

hang in there, dont buy now unless you really need it, imo
