Try Linuxsampler with the Chapman Stick patch (the bass side); to me, a bass player, it sounds pretty good......and you can "play" it with the Virtual Keyboard...

Hear the man. I picked up a nice Ibanez locally for ~$90US, I like its
sound on my recordings far better than anything I've done with
soundfonts or other samples.
