you're not alone for sure -there are maybe 1000 linux audio userworldwide -an exclusive club and a special kind of art of an elite ofelectronic musicians - so be proud that you are special.
For the eeepc I've made a stripped down JAD and I use thiscomputer regularly as musical notebook for small sketches or livejamming. But for "bigger" productions I need this proprietary junk... itdidn't hurt the music, because at least the music is free from an OS...it is just music.-- Mit freundlichen Grüßen
