You may want to just look at the dynebolic /etc/X11/xorg.conf and your ubuntu /etc/X11/xorg.conf and try changing the device settings in the dynebolic file until the dynebolic xorg is able to run (you will need to create an .xinitrc file (it can just be a single line saying "wmaker" or "fluxbox") and you will need to run startx manually (you shouldn't need any arguments, just "startx" will work)).
