Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a barebones kit for around $250 US. I'm looking at
the amd 64 x2 6400 or in the same price range, intel's core 2 duo e6300.
I've read a lot on the internet and I've learned enough to know that I'm
very confused. I just want to record audio using Rosegarden,
Zynaddsubfx, Qsampler and dssi plugins, I'd also like to do some video
editing with Cinelerra. What about this phenom thing? Anyway, if anyone
has some recommendations regarding these processors and possibly some
motherboards to go with them, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't do
gaming so that's not an issue.

Thanks,
Arthur

Go for the AMD processors. They are the best for linux (a tested intuition).  And on motherboard go with an ASUS,  you have to look wich one has compatibilities with the AMD dual core (AM2 socket).
