hi all. this sparked my interest as well, and i looked around a bit to find that the term 'whitebook' is probably what you are looking for. i'm going to keep looking myself, but i thought it might help you :)

So, this is very interesting.  I know how to assemble a desktop
computer from newegg parts, but I would not have thought that a
notebook computer would be possible.  Do you have a link to some
websites that would give instructions or clues?
