There is a reason why some people have such strange color-combination like yellow-on-blue in use. I personally am very glad that the system provides a sensible set of colors to use, leaves me with more time to program instead of thinking about colors. And it does hurt when you optimize your desktops colors for live-on-stage usage by choosing a "night-vision-red"-colorscheme and a window pops up that is gray-on-white...
