On the other hand, each of the conversion tools seem to interpret abc a little bit differently, so if you want MIDI and sheets of complex pieces, you might run into spending several hours trying to find a variant that works with both (there is a cpp-like pre-processor available, but :-( ). IIRC it has originally been developed for folk tunes, so if you want to set melodic music with guitar chords (and optionally tin-whistle tabulature) it's worth a try.
