No, don't have windows on this machine. Guess I could swap in a harddrive.

But, the problem is that it is so erratic. I've been playing midis for a 
few days with the 2496 with no problems ... then, it hangs. It could be 
a sequence in the midi file, but I had 3 hangs this morning with the 
same file and player (aplaymidi) .. but the hangs were NOT in the same 
place.

Heat on the card? Stray gamma rays?

I could boot into windows, play files for awhile, and not prove anything.

Probably easiest just to get a new card.
