Mark and Lanas thanks for the link. I found the articles to be well written and certainly left me with a deepened appreciation for the science of quality audio recording and  revealed some of the hidden quirks. The information contained therein  can only help the open source \ Linux audio project. Along with the ongoing LAU dialogue I have also found the work of audio engineer Jay Rose to very beneficial. http://www.dplay.com/SincerilyTom
