There was an actual real Hammond B3 sitting there at this club... and I was given permission to use it, but I had all my other patches set up on my laptop, so I stuck with what I know works. > > > > - -ken > > You <gasp> turned down a chance to play with a B3!!! > Yeah, I know. But the point of live shows is to entertain the audience, not to indulge my vintage-gear fetish. I just finished doing a show about an hour ago, at the same club, and passed up the B3 again. I'm very glad I did. Everyone else was having technical glitches aplenty, and I'm glad I didn't have to think about my gear at all except to just play it. The singer (who has the PA) was stuck in hellacious traffic on the bridge, so we did an instrumental set while waiting for him to arrive, then had to scramble to set up the PA before the second set. Bass player forgot to bring his extra vocal mics, so some of us had to share. Then during the second set, the guitarist's Line 6 amp went crazy and the pedalboard stopped working! The break between second and third sets was spent trying to figure that out (we didn't, we just worked around it). Then, just befor the last song of the night, the bass player's amp came unplugged from the mains! Took a couple bars to figure that one out. My gear worked flawlessly. Despite all the technical issues, we had fun, and audience had fun too, and after watching a few minutes of the videotape it looks and sounds like we put on a good show. But the Leslie was right there behind my right shoulder all night-- powered off and unused. *sigh* - -ken -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFGyROBe8HF+6xeOIcRApfuAKCal1j8eY7ZFftHgoDJCv5unNUi1wCdFTs2 eeFKue6fLy1iwwkFje3IJpQ= =Us9R -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/linux-audio-user
