1. Ubuntu studio can be installed without network connection from dvd, I've done so on 2 different machines without trouble. 2. Ubuntu Studio was just a few different packages different than feisty + a few which aren't in feisty. The upcoming gutsy release will be gutsy packages only, including realtime kernel, without a separate repo. I don't know what you mean by deprecated libraries and stuff, everything except I think 2-3 apps is the same as in feisty, so if anything 'deprecated' is there it is in feisty.
