I've had some weird microphone problems with a friends Audigy card. When I put 
a .asoundrc in his home directory it got solved. I really don't know if it 
will solve your problem but if you don't have any .asoundrc it can't hurt to 
have one. Just do this:

cd
cat > .asoundrc        
pcm.emu10k1 {
 type hw
 card 0        
}
ctl.emu10k1 {
 type hw
 card 0 
}

end it with a ctrl-C and try again.
