Oh dear.  Yes, ghostess is the ugliest piece of code I've written
(not counting some early BASIC efforts), and certainly the
ugliest I've ever released.  I started with Chris and Steve's
perfectly reasonable jack-dssi-host code, and quickly hacked
in one feature I needed, then another, and again and again,
until it's half bailing wire and duct tape.

I'd love to rewrite it, but all of the scant development time
I manage to find these days is going into WhySynth.  I don't
see that changing any time soon.
