you're using qjackctl ? can u hear the xruns ? are these xruns in brackets or 
whole numbers ? check your interupts. what priority are you running jack @ in 
qjackctl ? if "0", try 79. what alsa r u using ? i think i read somewhere 
there are 30 + hda/ac97 chip implementations... it's a miracle any of them 
work ! :) 
if you're using <= alsa 0.13.0 that could be your problem .
