There might be another way, if your MIDI app can be synchronized to
Ardour:

1) Load your audio track into ardour
2) turn on the click track
3) adjust the initial meter & tempo to match (as closely as you can)
the tempo of the audio track.
4) Press play. When the click track drifts away from the audio track,
add and adjust more tempo markers as needed.  Repeat as necessary.

This is tedious and painstaking work, especially if the original audio
has very fluid tempo and/or uses multiple meters.  But for rock or pop
music at least, it can usually be done.  It's much easier if the
original performance was recorded with a very steady tempo in a single
meter, eg. using a click track.

Once you've done that, if your sequencer can sync to ardour, hopefully
it will Just Work :) I haven't tried this yet.  But I have used the
click track and tempo markers exactly as described above, to help me
figure out some performances with tricky meter changes and tempo
variations.
