You can't use the multi plugin this way.  The two sound cards will drift
out of sync over time.

Per previous discussion on the list ("multiple soundcards") I don't care if they get out of sync. Does the error mean that alsa won't let me do this because they could get out of sync, or are you saying that the error is irrelevant anyway because of the out of syncitude? If the former, what workarounds are available? If the latter, how do I fix this?
