That seems all too familiar, somewhat like the way we went on that apple laptop I talked about here a couple of weeks back.  Unfortunately, the laptop is not here(not even in the same state) and I looked around to see if there was anything saved from the setup around here;  but I struck out on the search through this mess.

I may be able to ask what the setup on the laptop is over the phone in the near future and see if the lspci, etc match up.  I also may be able to get the info via email.  We also did not use windoze and kept the OSX partition intact.  The sound was gotten working using normal linux drivers though,  so don't know if I can help you much?
