lost user access to alsa

greetings!

i'm using a laptop with ubuntu dapper, 2.6.15 kernel (with ingo's patch), alsa 1.0.10, and jackd 0.100.0.

this system was working flawlessly with with both the onboard soundcard and my RME Multiface, with realtime access as user, until a recent install of some dvd-playing apps. now, when i try to bring up jack *as user* i get:

---------------------------
