As you know, I have been having problems with this card too.  I am 
hoping to persuade someone to have a look at it at LAC in Karlsruhe next 
week.  Hopefully, something will come out of that.

I pity you.  I have been using Linux since 1995, and still find getting 
this soundcard to work difficult.

That should already be turned on by default.

DeMuDi is Debian-based.  And Debian does not ship proprietary firmware.  
Did you get the firmware from elsewhere?
