It's possible that demudi simply does not support your network device
(what kind is it?) and you'll have to try another distribution.

Yeah, Bal, try doing an "ifconfig eth0 up" followed by a simple "ifconfig" to see if eth0 has indeed come up and if it's settings are complete (IP, netmask, etc.). Post results here for "expert" interpretation.
