Yup, if the drive doesnt see it your in trouble I am afraid. A lot of optical discs degrade over time (and I dont think most people know this when they do backups.) I used to work at Philips optical labs and Plextor drives were always the benchmark we worked too. That said, the Philips drives are not that bad ;)Hmm, if the drive can't recognize the disk you might be screwed, you may have better luck with a better drive. Any chance you have access to a Plextor?
