I use a USB MIDI keyboard too, an Edirol PCR-30.  Before that I 
used a Midiman 1x1 USB MIDI interface.  Both used to lock my 
machine up under 2.4 kernels, I think due to some bad Mandrake 
hotplug stuff.  I haven't had a problem with either one in a 
while.
