I use a Rode NT1000 condenser mic put through a Joe Meek VC3 preamp. I put a SC4 mono compressor on it along with a little eq courtesy of TAP. I sang about 2 inches from the mic. I've to be careful with the mic position, because my pc power supply is very very noisy.
