Okay, for now change the install section of the makefile to: install: install -o root -m a+rx slat /usr/bin mkdir -p /usr/share/slat install -o root -m a+r bg.png /usr/share/slat And in theremin.cpp, change line 150 to: CL_Surface *bg = new CL_Surface("/usr/share/slat/bg.png"); And you should be all set.
