Well, you can also blacklist it so hotplug ignores it. I actually do
want hotplug to do its thing though because it loads the firmware, and
it works 90% of the time. In fact, when it stops working it's usually
not even been unplugged - I suspect usb confusion when I plug/unplug
other things on the same bus.
