David, I tried what Rui suggested. The above patch applies and fits in despite the mismatch of kernel version. I didn't go through to actually booting the kernel but I see no reason why it shouldn't boot. "make oldconfig" is probably a real winner here because of suse's patch-o-mania. Wolfgang
