I am using Athlon 3000 with 1GB RAM on debian-pure64 since last year as
my desktop.
I have had to learn a lot to get all the sound stuff going, had to
compile alsa-tools (to control Delta Audiophile 2496 card), and still
having issues compiling and installing the patched 32bit PAM on 64.
I can run Ardour, Rosegarden, Hydrogen and ZynAddSubFX all together and
record from external sources.
There are people working on 64bit sound distros which may hit the
"market" real soon...
I have 32bit Demudi on another partition but I use the 64 side 99%.

I have no formal computer training since the mid-seventies (punching
holes in cards with a paper clip) and got back into 'puters with Debian
woody on a freebie 233MHz P2 in July 2003. Took me 3 weeks to do the
first install coz I didn't have a clue...

Hope this helps, Go 64!

Cheers,
Norv
