Of course if your hardware has a buggy ACPI implementation you will have latency problems regardless of the OS or kernel you use, and whether ACPI is enabled. This is a separate issue. It looks like Acer laptops are particularly bad, they all seem to suffer from the ACPI/SMM issue. Lee
