This is what's installed on my Mandrake 10.1 system:

audacity-1.2.2-2mdk
libportaudio0-devel-18.1-1mdk
libportaudio0-18.1-1mdk

I'm pretty sure I don't need the devel package just to run stuff.
Is what I've got new enough to allow Audacity to run while I've got 
jackd running?
