I have both an M-Audio Audio Buddy and a Behringer UltraGain Pro (rack
mount, two channel, lame-ass tube imitation version of the above).

Both are perfectly serviceable with my mics (SM57, E220 kick, two
MXL large diaphragm condensors)

Both are quite transparent - transparent enough that I can usually
just hear how much my rooms suck for recording!  If you're looking for
coloring, look at something more expensive ::-)
