I use it because it is easily and highly customizable as the apps are mostly compiled and then match exactly your hardware. The genkernel utility is cool if you are a beginner into kernel compilation. Gentoo has the best stability so far with my USB soundcard, after having tested the DeMuDi, the AudioSlack and the Planet CCRMA with Fedora core 3. Regards Philippe
