I had a similar problem with a 2.6.12 kernel. I'm afraid that there is a bug with the emu10k driver or that mic boost is off and you can't turn it on with alsamixergui. In particular, when I had this problem, the "mic boost" control didn't appear in alsamixergui... Downgrade to kernel 2.6.11 and see what happens. I'd like to report this but I don't know where I should do it and I want to make sure it isn't a config issue. Suggestions?
