Last Thursday 17 February 2005 22:07, vector was like: > >>AFAICT all you need to do is configure ALSA at this stage. > > ?ok you have mentioned that twice now. but Im none the wiser as to what it > means. are you saying run alsaconf or is there something else? Right, that would explain why you are having difficulties. You need to do some reading. Start here: http://demudi.alioth.debian.org/wiki/DocumentsFaq http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/ http://alsa.opensrc.org/ Unfortunately alsaconf doesn't always do the job, which means you may have to go and edit the configuration file /etc/alsa/modutils/1.0 (probably) by 'hand' that is, using a text editor. It's not particularly difficult, but you do need to read the available documentation first. Then read these, in fact you should apt-get the first one from the debian archives. http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/reference.en.html http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-roadmap1.html?ca=dgr-lnxw82Win2LinP1 Reading is a Good Thing(TM). cheers, tim hall http://glastonburymusic.org.uk
