Hi, check this article http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/7024 and create/apdapt your .asoundrc Check also your modules.conf (Kernel 2.4) or modprobe.conf and related config-files (for me it's the /etc/modprobe.d/sound (kernel 2.6)).
