The alsa distribution comes with a script called alsasound. On a RH or FC system it resides in /etc/rc.d/init.d. You use "chkconfig alsasound on" to get it to run at boot and shutdown (it has both start and stop functions). This saves your settings at shutdown and restores them at boot. -- Jan "Evil Twin" Depner The Fuzzy Dice http://www.thefuzzydice.com "As we enjoy great advantages from the invention of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours, and this we should do freely and generously."
