In gamix, I get two sliders under Synth, one Capture : sliders and a switch,
the other unlabled, no switch : presumably the Synth volume, but I still get
no sound that way.

That's a shame, is the reverb any good ?

I guess I'm pushing my luck but any chance of getting more than 128Mb ? my
main font is 320Mb
