What app are you using to play the MIDI files?  IOW where are the MIDI
messages that play the SoundCanvas supposed to come from?  

Normally to play an external MIDI module from your computer you'd either
run a sequencer, or connect an external MIDI keyboard.  But none of
these are showing up in your list.

Also are you sure the joystick port is enabled in the BIOS?  Normally it
would show up as "MPU-401" or something.
